  Welcome from the Principal

The members of Domremy College form a diverse educational community which was founded by the Presentation Sisters in 1911, in the tradition of Nano Nagle.

With over 95 years of successful education, Domremy College is proud of its high academic success in a well-disciplined and safe environment. Our vision is to offer a high-quality education which challenges students to aim for personal excellence and to love learning. We prepare them to meet the demands and opportunities of life in a changing world.

As a Catholic school, we believe that a student's faith development should be integrated into her whole life and lived out every day. To support us in this endeavour, we are pleased to have our Parish Priests involved in the College's Sacramental Program.

By providing the students with opportunities and leadership skills through our Social Justice Program, we believe that as adults, they will be women of courage and integrity who, through their search for truth ("La Verite" being our school motto), can contribute to a better society.

Domremy College students will be women who can make a difference in our world.

Class of 57

Stephanie Cammareri

Year 12 student, Stephanie Cammareri, was very excited to learn that her HSC Major Textiles Project had been chosen to be displayed in this year’s Annual Exhibition of Excellence in Textiles and Design. The event, known as TEXSTYLE, showcases an outstanding standard and diversity of projects from students all over the state.  From over 2000 entries only 50 were selected, with our College being the only CEO school among them.
Congratulations also go to three of our Year 8 students - Claire Toscano, Katelyn Iacono and Isabella Nikodinovski.  As part of this year’s TAS Gifted and Talented program, these girls designed and produced an Art Quilt based on the theme “Outside My Window”.  Their very creative designs were entered into the Technology Educator’s Association Stage 5 Art Quilt Challenge, and have reached State Finals.  Their quilts will also be on display at Texstyle 2009.  A magnificent achievement, especially as our Year 8 girls were competing in a Stage 5 Challenge.

School Certificate

Higher School Certificate

We are very proud of the outstanding achievements of our Year 12 girls and of the teaching staff who coached them through their time with us. All are to congratulated on their tremendous efforts in producing some fine results. A special mention must go to Louise Castro, the Dux of the College in 2009, in achieving the highest grade possible (band 6) in all of her chosen subjects. Some of the highlights include:

  • 100% of Italian Continuers scored bands 5 and 6.
  • 92% of Textiles and Design students scored bands 5 and 6.
  • 87% of Music students scored bands 5 and 6.
  • All Drama students scored band 5s.
  • All Physics students scored band 5s.

Congratulations also to the Year 10 girls on their fine results.

  • 94% of English students were in the top 3 bands.
  • 80% of Geography students were in the top 3 bands.
  • 78% of students were Highly Competent in the Computer Skills Test.
  • 39% of Science students were in the top 2 bands.
  • No student in Mathematics was in the lowest band. This was consistent with this year's NAPLAN results, where no student had a result below the benchmarks.

Quality Teaching Award

We are very excited that Mrs Adla Coure, our English Coordinator, was recently presented with the Quaity Teaching Award. She was one of only 16 Secondary teachers across the state to receive the award. Part of the citation that she received with her award reads:
Adla Coure demonstrates integrity, vision and adaptability in her teaching practice. Her thorough knowledge and love of her subject is conveyed to students and colleagues in a variety of forums. She is also highly involved in whole school activities.

Class of 57

The College production of Thoroughly Modern Millie this year was a stunning success and hailed as one of the best musicals ever. The performances from every participant were outstanding and congratulations must go to all who worked tirelessly to produce a musical of such high standard. Time was spent on weekends, holidays and after school in rehearsal and preparing sets and costumes for the show. A very special thank you to Mr Orland and his wife, Margaret, who generously donated the PA equipment and did a superb job of producing the sound.

Special Recognition
Award

Louise Castro, the Environmental Prefect at the College, has led the push to develop a range of activities to lower their impact on the environment, improve their sustainability and teach all students the importance of sustainable lifestyle. Due to Louise's efforts and those of the other girls on the Environment committee, we were awarded special recognition at the Canada Bay's third annual Sustainability Awards.  Our special award, the 'Environmental Community Organisation Award', recognises businesses, community groups and individuals who have achieved economic, social or environmental progress in the City of Canada Bay.
